Red Berry Smoothie

My parents recently bought me a smoothie maker as I really wanted to be healthier and eat more fruit and veg. As I have only really just started making smoothies I haven’t been that adventurous with my combinations however, I have found one that really works no matter what the quantities are and makes great red/purple smoothies for breakfast or as a snack. I measured the quantities of each ingredient for purpose of this recipe but feel free to add as much or as little of anything you would like. Also, the method is just the way I find works best but do whatever works for you.

Ingredients for 400ml smoothie

150g frozen berries

50-75ml fruit juice or almond milk

50g fresh strawberries

4 ice cubes

½ tbsp honey

15-20g oats

  1. Chop up the fresh fruit and place in the processor along with the juice or milk and blend.
  2. Then add the frozen berries and ice cubes until fully blended.
  3. Finally, add the oats and honey and blend into a consistency you are happy with.
  4. I love to top my smoothies with granola and flaked almonds.
